Training Division Captain

Reporting to the Assistant Chief, Training & Operations, you support and role model the Department’s core values of safety, respect, teamwork and customer service. You assist our evidence-based management team to achieve safe, effective and efficient operations by leading the development, implementation and monitoring of a professional fire training program.

You have diverse supervisory responsibilities for career and paid on-call (POC) staff within our successful composite fire department. You support and liaise with the chief officers, administrative support staff, career and POC fire officers & firefighters and various external agencies.

Your success in this role includes having at least 6 years of fire-fighting experience including extensive training and proven success as an instructor. You have successfully completed National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 Fire Fighter Level 2, NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level 2 and NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level 2. You are currently certified as a BC Fire Service Evaluator and have a current First Responder Level III license. You possess a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License and Air Brake Endorsement. You are familiar with relevant federal and provincial regulations, standards and laws that impact training activities.
