At the Northwest Fire Centre, you’ll join an established team of diverse individuals working
together towards a common goal of wildfire management and safety. Our team comprises both
unit crews, which are comprised of 22 people, and initial attack crews, which are made up of 4, with
initial attack bases hosting between 18 and 52 members. As a part of this team, you’ll collaborate
with professionals in wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery from across the
province.

The Initial Attack Fire Crew Supervisor plays a critical role in executing fire suppression and hazard
plans, ensuring crews are effectively mobilized in incident response. As an Initial Attack Fire Crew
Supervisor, your responsibilities will shift throughout the year. In the spring, you’ll focus on
preparing for new staff and overseeing their training. During fire season, your role is to ensure the
team is well-supported and performing effectively in wildfire response. In the fall and winter, you’ll
help with hiring and ramping up for the next season. We value the fulfilling environment our team

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Grade 12 plus 4 seasons forest fire related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; AND
  • Valid Basic First Aid (formally known as First Aid Ticket OFA Level 1) with Transportation
    endorsement; AND
  • Successful completion of pre-employment fitness standard; AND
  • Maintain personal weights standards as required for crew type; AND
  • Minimum 2 seasons of supervisory experience; AND
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license
    Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
  • Incident Commander 4 or higher certification
  • Qualified Faller Assessor, Qualified Faller Trainer, Certified Faller or Faller in Training or
    industry equivalent.
